(M IS FOR MALICE) While appearing to be asleep, Trapper used his "Cat Cam" to snap not on an image of the cover, but made a second score, by also capturing the new banner for the series.

Trapper, whose human is Author Richard Nurse let us know that he is working on finding out the exact release date for the exciting new book in the series.  All that he could tell us at this time is "Sometime in February."

Newly Release - Nice Opening Weekend "Serial Doesn't Start with a C"

"SERIAL DOESN'T START WITH A C"

"Doesn't need to cry over spilt milk."

After an opening weekend on Amazon, amidst a long weekend of wall to wall football and parties, "Serial Doesn't Start with a C" episode 3 of the "Jasper, Street-Fighter, and Me" series made its Amazon Kindle debut.  I am happy to say that it finished just out of the top Two hundred in the Mystery/Detective Category, plus received a 5 Star Review.

I am also happy to announce that there will be a fourth book in this series.  Episode 4 has a working title of "M is for ???" I don't know what word yet will replace the questions marks, except that it won't be the much-overused word Murder.

Thank you for your support, and if you have a question, I am always willing to answer them either through this blog, on Goodreads, or my Nursesnook&Books website.

First Blush - Re-edited, Re-worked and Re-Published

Nursesnook&Books
Press Release
December 24, 2015
Nursesnook&Books is proud to announce that “First Blush” book 1 of the “Suzy and Katie” series is once again available for purchase.  Through the following distributors: Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, and as a paperback through CreateSpace and Amazon.

The manuscript was re-edited and re-written where necessary to provide the reader with a much smoother and easier read.  Some of the more erotic sexual scenes were, “toned down” to hopefully allow the book to reach a wider audience.  Together, over two thousand changes were made to the manuscript, without changing the premise of the story.  Included in the changes are a new cover, designed my Richard Nurse, and an inspirational image and sonnet, also by Richard Nurse.

The new book is listed as the Second Edition, and now also shows the author as D. D. Story with Richard Nurse, as the rewrite was a joint effort by both authors.

The other four books of the series have now been unpublished, and book 2 in the series has already started going through the re-editing process.  As a not to the readers, who preferred the more erotic version. The Collector’s Edition will remain as it is with the original text, and showing only D. D. Story as the author.

D. D. and Richard, would like to thank everyone for their support this year, and wish all of their fans a happy holiday and a peace-filled new year.

A CFI for "Jasper, Street Fighter and Me"

What I call CFIs

I have had a couple of ideas kicking around in my head for the last week or so.  The first being; What I in the fourth episode of the "Jasper, Street Fighter and Me" series I give Jasper and Street Fighter voice and their own dialogue at times. The story would still be from Maggie's point of view, but Jasper and Street Fighter's would take over the story at times, or as an added view.

The second idea, would take it a step further, and allow Maggie, Jasper and Street Fighter to either talk to each other vocally or through strictly telepathy.  Maggie would have to suffer some form of a head injury, and the discover that they could all hear each others thoughts.

Just for fun, I rewrote one of the scenes from "Candie is not Always Sweet" with the boys talking.  The column on the left is as it is written in the book while the column on the right has Jasper and Street Fighter talking.  I would love any feedback you might want to give on this.

Thank you,  Richard Nurse

A Conversation with Jasper & Street Fighter - Part 1

Part 1 of

A conversation with Jasper and Street Fighter

RDN (Author Richard Nurse) - Street Fighter, do you remember the day that I told you that I would write a story about you?

SF (Street Fighter) - Yup, it was that night that you heard me tussling with that mangy black and white dude from down the street. I have to keep my eye on him all of the time.  He keeps trying to steal my ladies.

RDN - Right you are.  You impressed me that night. I thought for a minute he had you, but then you did that leap, and twist thing, and came down right on top of him.

SF - Yeah, that was a pretty sweet move, especially for a guy that isn't as spry as he used to be, what with my dislocated right front shoulder. I surprised the hell out of him with that move.

RDN - That you did buddy, right along with me.  He didn't come back for quite a while.  Speaking of him trying to steal your ladies. I have to give you credit for not making Sassy leave the pride, especially after she produced just two kittens, and both are black and white.

SF - Ah man, you know a little new blood in the family every now and then is good for all of us. Besides, not that many of the little ones made it through that late storm.  Oh and you gave her a perfect name man, she is definitely one Sassy girl.  She is doing her best to make it up to me, even when she is not in season.  I really like that girl.

Jasper - Hey buddy, what was not to like about her, she is cute and the way she flirts with you, How did she take it when Maggie got you fixed?

SF - I guess not too well, I haven't seen her since she found out I was out of commission.  But I forgave Maggie, she is pretty damn special, especially for a human.  She treats us both right.

RDN - Tell me, Jasper, what did you think when this little lion strolled onto the patio that night?

Jasper - I sensed that he wasn't here to cause any trouble, and it didn't take me long to figure out that I really didn't want to tangle with him. I mean look at him, he has more scars, tears in nicks and dents than a friggin APC.  The boy has been around, and since he is the winner, I wouldn't want to see what the losers look like.  Besides, as much as I love Maggie, I miss being with my other K-9 buddies.  He may be a cat, but he could make the muster as a marine anytime he wanted to.

RDN - Time for the truth SF - What made you decide to take the chance to enter the patio with Jasper laying there in plain sight?

SF - It was the food.  I mean Jasper was having a steak, and she is having poached Salmon, which is my all time favorite. Plus I saw right away that Jasper was and Aussie and they are about the smartest dogs around, almost as smart as a cat.  So I figured any lady that feeds her dog steak while she eats salmon, has got to be someone special, so I decided to see just how special she is.
RDN - So just how special is Maggie guys?

Jasper and Street Fighter looked at me and together they said, "You ought to know, you're written the story's man.

In the News! at Nursesnook&Books

In the News!

A Diamond in the Ruff - The first review is in - Four Stars -  Richard Nurse has written yet another fast-paced, enjoyable read, and continues the series that stars a detective and two pets, who are themselves crime fighters.

A Diamond in the Ruff - GoodReads Give Away - The contest is underway.  I am giving away two signed copies of "A Diamond in the Ruff" Episode 2 of the fast paced "Jasper, Street Fighter & Me" series.  There is a button link to the entry form on the Published Works page of this site.  Find the cover picture and the link to the contest is located just below.  Hurry because the contest ends at midnight on November 25th.

Striving to Provide the best Product that I can - A couple of weeks back, I received a review of one of my novels that made me sit up and take notice.  While the reviewer liked the story, and they way it unfolded, the number of grammatical errors in the story were distracting to the reader.  The review was extremely well written, and done in a constructive manner for my part.  This particular book had been through a minimum of three edits prior to its release.  I took the advice of the reviewer, and began checking on the various Grammar, Spelling, Wrong Word catching programs.  I settled on Grammarly, and after installing the basic free version, I uploaded the manuscript in question into the program for review.  A couple of four-letter words slipped out of my mouth when I saw the results of the check. The program found 642 critical errors.    At that moment, I made a couple of decisions that I am in the process of bringing fully into operation.

  • I turned off the auto review on MS Word.
  • Every new manuscript created will be composed with Grammarly operatin
  • I plan to upload and submit every manuscript, for every published book presently on the market. Each will be reviewed and edited using Grammarly, and upon completion a new manuscript will be uploaded to the distributors for my books. I fully intend that each item with my name or one of my pen names on it will be as grammatically correct as possible.  Allow me to add, that this is not a project this will be completed in a few days or even a week.  I have committed x number of hours on my schedule each day to complete this project
  • Upon completing the first two manuscripts, I was impressed enough with the program that I upgraded the Grammarly program to the premium so that it is review and checking for even more potential problems.
  • I really should have paid attention in English Class....

Great New Cover for "Out of the Chaos"

The Amazing New Cover

By Paul Potiki

For

"Out of the Chaos"

I decided to change the cover of Out of the Chaos, base on statistics that lead me to believe that the cover was actually suggesting something totally different from what the story is about.
First was the comments I received at a couple of shows lately, with regards that they thought that the book was religious based on the cover.  Second, is the fact that the books is rated 4 Plus on both Goodreads and Amazon and has not come close to meeting my sales expectations.  The third and final factor is that during a recent Goodreads self-advertising promotion it has received a total of 1 click to date this month while other books in the same campaign are receiving numerous clicks.
With Paul's expert help, Out of the Chaos, now has a cover that leaves no doubt as to what the story is about.
Any Comments regarding this change would be greatly appreciated.

COMING SOON A Diamond in the Ruff Episode #: 2

COMING SOON

Title:  A Diamond in the Ruff

Series:  "Jasper, Street Fighter & Me"

Episode #:  2

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Series Back Cover
Premise:  While enjoying an afternoon in a meadow reading, Maggie hears Jasper give out a sharp bark.  Thinking that Street Fighter, had managed to sneak up on Jasper, she just smiled and went back to reading her book, underneath the ancient old oak tree she was leaning against. When Jasper and Street Fighter, appeared in front of her, she quickly forgot about the book she was reading.  Street Fighter was carrying a small leather bag that hung from his mouth by the drawstring, and Jasper had what appeared to be a human rib bone in his mouth.  The bag in Street Fighters mouth contained un-cut diamonds.

Her 'boy's' as she calls Jasper and Street Fighter, had managed to find Maggie's Detective Firm, "Jasper, Street Fighter & Me" next case, or possibly even cases.  When she followed the boys back to where they had found the bag and bone, Maggie discovered the partially opened, and shallow burial site of a human body.  Sitting between the bones of the pelvis was another bag, just like the one that Street Fighter had brought her.

Maggie calls her lifelong friend, Detective Jim Patterson from the Metro Police Department, and the sight is quickly labeled as a crime scene. The initial hypothesis is that it is one case, and that the victim was a mule for the diamond smugglers.  But Maggie isn't so sure, and during a relaxing dinner, at her home with Jim, and her boys, Jim is called out, when another body is found, in an almost identical state as the first body. Except for one big difference, there are no diamonds with the body, this time.

Maggie has an idea where the diamonds at the body came from, and devises a plan to prove her theory.  The proving of Maggie's theory sets off a string of events that turn violent, and put Jasper and Street Fighter to the test right along with Maggie.  Events of a nature, that Maggie, has not experienced since she retired from the Marines.

NursesnookandBooks - News Release

News Release:

Big Changes are in the wind for Author Richard Nurse

As announced on this site earlier, Author Richard Nurse has decided to reveal the pen-name he has used for a number of years.  Now Author Richard Nurse is making some more changes to his Indie Author/Publisher operations.

Effective as of October 17, 2015, Richard Nurse has changed his account to a publishers account with Smashwords.com so as to mirror his Kindle Direct Publishing Account. The sole purpose for this change is to better manage his publications under both his pen-name and real name.
The new publisher name is: NursesnookandBooks

Authors under this publisher name are:

1. Richard Nurse
2. The Antique Poet, Richard Nurse
3. D. D. Story
4. D. D. Story and Richard Nurse

  • Richard Nurse: Books released and or listed under the name of Richard Nurse, will have been published under the name of Richard Nurse, as the Author and publisher originally. The works included under this name will include both Novels, and Short Stories. Poetry will be excluded from this list with the exception of the book: "Words from the Heart", al other poetry will be listed as detailed in the next section.
  • Mr. Nurse, who is also frequently called "The Antique Poet", has announced that the "The Antique Poet" name will revert back to being used specifically for poetry. The poetry selected to be under this name will be deemed to be for the general public, and will have been originally published under the name of Richard Nurse and or the "The Antique Poet. Book covers and by lines will be revised to read: The Antique Poet", Richard Nurse. It may appear stacked or in a single line.
  • D. D. Story: A certain group of works written and published originally under the pen-name of D. D. Story are coming over from SQS Publishing to NursesnookandBooks. These are all works from the Suzy & Katie series, with the exception of a forever free poem "Lost in a Wistful Dream". There will be no changes to the poem, however Mr. Nurse plans to do a major re-edit and revision to the Suzy & Katie series and re-issue them under the combined name of D. D. Story and Richard Nurse. While the series is erotic in nature in its present form, Mr. Nurse feels that it can be revised into a romantic love story, suitable for a much larger audience, without losing the original concept and sharing of love and emotions that are at the heart of the series.
Watch for More New Development in this Continuing Story
