Away too Long

I've been away too Long

I couldn't believe it when I looked at the data for this blog and saw that I hadn't posted on it in over a month.  A lot of the winter has passed us by already, and I am thankful to say that it has been mild and pretty much snow free.

I haven't been idle in the time I have been away. In fact, I have been writing every day.
I finished the fifth book in my Jasper, Street-Fighter and Me series just before Christmas, and after three rounds of edits, it is going through a beta read. It took a bit longer to write the fifth book in the series "You Can't Kill Her" ... just make her go away.

As has been the trend with the series, each book has been longer and had more twists and surprises that the previous episode. Episode 5 is not an exception, as it at this moment is approx 52,000 words in length, and is by far the most intense story yet, with more twist and turns that I actually added a list of terms and acronyms for the reader. Nothing heavy, just a list to allow the reader to know exactly who or what agency is being talked about.  Keep checking the JSFandME website for updates and snippets from the story.

While I was finishing episode 5, I was also doing my own final edit, on a new Romantic Police Novel - "Love Ignited".  Like episode five of JSFandMe, this story is also in excess of fifty thousand words and is in the process of going through its first full edit.

Then for a little something different, I have been taking a Poetry Workshop, through Writers and Books in Rochester, NY where I work.  for this entire month, we have been receiving a prompt via e-mail every day, for which we have to write a poem.  Then the members of the class, pick's their favorite from the week and sends it to the rest of the class, which meets every Monday evening where we workshop each other's poems.  It has been a fun and interesting class, where I think that I have learned a lot, about my second love, writing poetry.

I have found, that my hands can be creative both to type out the stories in my mind, and also at times to simply create something physically.

Trapper the Cyber Snoop - I'M BACK

“Trapper the Cyber Snoop here, Reporting from unseasonably warm, North Chili, NY.  The home base, of Author Richard Nurse, and Nursesnook and Books. I thought that I would take some time while we wait for the first winter storm of the season, to bring everyone up to date.”

The boss has been busy writing and re-writing and has just completed the major project of having his already successful series “Jasper, Street-Fighter, and Me” go through an editorial assessment.  The first four books of the series, which I call (Candie, Diamond, Serial, and Malice) have all been through an editorial assessment, re-written, copy edited, corrected, and a professional proofing of the final manuscript.  The entire series is once again available for you the reader.  The series is now longer by approximately 19,000 words, and with no added fluff.  Instead, much of the fluff and filler was cut and replaced with pertinent dialogue and new intense action scenes. All of this was done while staying true to the premise of the original story. A fact that was helped immensely by being able to work with the same Editor and Copy Editor team at Story Perfect Editing Services throughout the project.

The stories remain connected by the reappearance of characters, which are becoming central to the series. But, there is another connection between episodes two and three, and three and four, for clues or teases were strengthened, giving the reader a hint about the next story in each book.

“Let be the First to say that Yes there is a now a clue in episode four for episode five, which the boss is working as you read this.” For those that love a tease, keep checking the series website for samples and updates on where the fifth book stands. http://www.jasperstreet-fighterandme.com

The rewrite of the series, while it has been a major project, is not the only thing the boss has been doing either.  He has written a novel, “Love Ignited” which is going through a Beta read at present, along with attending a writing seminar called a Morning of Prompts, and has just completed a six-week course on Advanced Fiction Writing.  Both of these courses were taken at Writers and Books in Rochester, New York, and he has already signed up for a course on Poetry during the month of January next year.

My New Web Site

Please Visit my new Web Site

My new web site for Nursesnook & Books is complete and up and running.  The site has a new host, a totally new design, and totally new content and imagery.  When you land on the home page, you can quickly scan the covers of all of my books, or look at the list of books over an image taken at the Field Museum in Chicago,  There is a completely new Author Bio page, along with a page listing all of my book along with their new blurbs.
I have added a sample page, where you can read selected samples of published works, follow a link to my poetry blog, or even read a section from an upcoming work.  At the end of the sample page is an area where you the reader can leave me feedback on what you have read.  In addition, I have added a page listing any Events, or Workshops that I will be attending or speaking at.

This the second of two sites that I have created this month.  The other site, is dedicated to promoting the "Jasper, Street-Fighter, and Me" series, and can be found at JSFandME

I hope that you enjoy both of my new sites.  As always I am open to questions ans suggestions.
